The Cap3 BC Hydro Projects are divided into 3 phases aiding in the construction of a new substation in the Telkwa area:
1. Site Clearing: Clearing the site of debris to prepare for a transmission realignment.
2. Foundations Construction: constructing the concrete foundations to support the future substation.
3. Access Construction: provision of access for connecting the transmission wires between the newly constructed substation and supply tower.
As prime contractor, Kyah performs on all phases while prioritizing community development for Witset First Nation by generating economic benefits and providing employees with skill training opportunities. With the first phase completed, Kyah Resources is on track to complete the projects ahead of schedule.
Kyah Resources Inc. has completed several pipeline integrity projects for the 10" natural gas pipeline south of Houston, British Columbia near Highway 16. This includes steady integrity work from March to July of 2022, and from July to September of 2023.
Kyah Resources Inc. harvests and delivers approximately 80,000 m3 of timber to Canfor's Houston division. Kyah performs full phase logging and also builds block and mainline road. Kyah has been delivering similar volumes since 2012.
On this unit price contract for BC Hydro, Kyah completed 28 hectares of clearing including standard and steep slope harvesting methods, helicopter logging, hand falling, grubbing, rough grading, and waste wood disposal. Work was completed to facilitate the installation of new transmission towers around geotechnically unstable earth.
Kyah Resources Inc. completed the reactivation and improvement of existing forestry roads, the development of new mainline roads (including bridge and culvert installation), pre-facility pad grading, and other load, haul, place, compact civil works at the start-up of the Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project for both Macro-Spiecapag Joint Venture and directly for CGL. After initial construction Kyah provided ongoing road maintenance for approximately 60 km of road in all seasons.
Kyah Resources, together with Lemare Lake, has provided almost $100 million of technical road construction for the CGL project between Houston and Kitimat, BC. Kyah and Lemare completed 44km of new roads in the remote and challenging terrain of the Coast Mountain Range. The project included 68 bridge installations and over 4,000 m3 of rock chipping and blasting.
Kyah Resources Inc. cleared ROW in isolated, untouched terrain through the Clore River Valley to Icy Pass between Houston and Kitimat, BC. This involved 220 hectares of clearing with several separate equipment headings, hand falling, heli-logging, and ongoing access improvements in very remote work conditions.
Kyah Resources cleared 62 km of the Coastal GasLink Pipeline right-of-way through the challenging terrain of the rigged Coast Mountain Range. Kyah used various clearing methods to complete the work such as standard and steep slope harvesting equipment, helicopter logging, and hand falling, all without a single lost time incident.
Kyah Resources partnered with the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation, Nadleh Whut'en First Nation, Skin Tyee First Nation and the Frost Group as a single entity called Shas Resources to be the ROW clearing aggregator from Summit Lake to the Clore River in the Coast Mountains for the Pacific Trails Pipeline Project (over 300km). Shas provided management and oversight as well as direct completion of work for the 35 km of pipeline ROW that was completed before Chevron decided to park the project and sell their interest in 2015 following a drastic decrease in the price of oil. Kyah (through Shas Resources) also performed annual maintenance on the ROW for a couple of years following the initial work.
